#### For Adding 4 Liters of Water in 1 Cu.m Freshly Mixed Concrete

#### If the Temperature of Freshly Mixed Concrete Is Increased by 1%, Then

- The compressive strength of concrete will be decreased by 1.0 to 1.5 N/mm2.

#### If the Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete Is

- Increased by 1% then the compressive strength will be decreased by 5 %.
- Decreased by 1%, the yield will be decreased by 0.03 cu.m per 1 cu.m.
- Decreased by 1%, then the slump value will be decreased by about 12.5 mm.
- Decreased by 1%, then the durability of the concrete will be reduced by 10%.

### Thumb Rule Formula

The Thumb rule to determine the area of shuttering needed is **2.4 times the plinth area or six times the concrete quantity**. Consider, the quantity of concrete is one cubic meter, then the shuttering area needed is 1 x 6 = 6 square meters.

**A column size depends on the floor area it is supporting**; this floor area is calculated by subdividing the distance between the column and all adjacent columns. This area is cumulative from floor to floor. A 6×6 column can support 750 sq. ft; a 8×8 column can support 3000 sq.
