  1. My Uncle was an engineer. He and his company as well as many others were hired to work on the construction of Canyon Lake Dam on the Guadalupe River in Texas in the early 1960’s. He hated providing the work but it was good money. His problem was that this was an earthen dam designed by the army corp of engineers. The same people that built the levees in Louisiana destroyed by hurricane Katrina. ‘It will fail one day. Not if but when,’ he said. In 2002 a flood went over the spillway carving out a gorge that nature could not have done in 5000 years. No one seems concerned.
